Let me tell you a story…
A tale of two eleven year olds. Definitely not a childhood romance. Polar opposites, musical rivals (ha!). He had pink hair and a love of Nirvana. She was an honorary Gallagher, complete with an ultra cool Kangol hat (cringe).
Little did Sophie and Dean (that’s us!) know that, many moons later, they would find each other again at the school reunion of all places and - just like in all the best stories - fall in love.
It turns out that our ‘happy ever after’ was just the beginning. Eleven years on, Matilda and Frankie have joined the gang along with three cats, two chickens, a tortoise and a gecko! Together we are the Darwins. And we love love!

We’re Sophie and Dean — husband and wife, photographers, filmmakers and the two halves of Sophie Darwin Photography.
We’ve photographed weddings together for years, telling the story of each day from two different perspectives. Now, alongside our photography packages, we also offer combined photography + film collections, allowing us to capture even more of the moments, movement, voices and atmosphere that make your wedding yours.
Our approach to both is exactly the same: relaxed, creative and honest.
For most of the day we’ll be right there amongst it all, documenting things as they happen rather than constantly directing them. We want the photographs and films you receive to feel like your wedding — the people, the personalities, the laughter, the chaos and all those tiny moments you didn't even realise were happening.
Then, when the light is beautiful, we’ll sneak you both away for a little while. No awkward posing or disappearing for hours. Just a chance to breathe, be together and take in the slightly bonkers fact that you just got married.
We’ll create some beautiful portraits, capture a little film and then send you straight back to your people.
Because the dancefloor will be calling — and we'll want to get right back into the thick of it too.

Like us, you firmly believe that weddings are celebrations, not photoshoots or film sets.
You don't take the pomp and ceremony too seriously. You're far too caught up in marrying the person you love.
And that's exactly how we want it.
Whether we're photographing, filming or doing a bit of both, we don't want your wedding to feel like a production. We want you to spend it with your favourite people while we quietly get on with capturing everything.
We'll join you for the hustle and bustle of morning preparations, give you a smile of encouragement as you say your vows, cheer as you walk through a sea of confetti and, by the end of the night, we'll probably be throwing a few questionable shapes on the dancefloor with you too.

We’re not the most conventionally romantic of couples, and you might not be either. That’s ok! Weddings, like relationships, come in all shapes and sizes. However you choose to celebrate we can’t wait to be there with you. All that matters is that you marry the love of your life and have a bloody good time whilst doing it!

01We’d love to hang out with the Darwins! How do we book?
Ahh yay, thank you! We’re so excited to meet you!
Booking is easy, get in touch and let us know your wedding date. If we’re available then we’ll send over all the info you need.
02We are SO awkward in front of the camera, help!
Don’t worry! Every single couple tells us they hate having a camera pointed at them. That’s exactly why we’ve developed such a relaxed and laid-back way of working. Whether we’re photographing, filming, or doing a bit of both, there’s no awkward posing or feeling like you’re on a photoshoot. You just get to hang out with your favourite people (and each other), enjoy your wedding and leave us to take care of all the creative stuff. Nice and easy!
03How long after our wedding day will we receive the photographs and film?
We don’t want to do a rush job on your memories, these are the photographs and moments you’ll look back on for years to come! We send over a sneak peek a few days after your wedding and then your full gallery and film will be ready for you within 12 weeks. We recommend sitting down with a glass of something nice and cold when you view your gallery!
04Do you travel for weddings?
We limit our travel throughout the year, we have a young family so taking time out to go and shoot a wedding abroad isn’t as easy as it used to be! Having said that though, we both love an adventure so why not get in touch, tell us about your plans and if we can make it then we would absolutely love to be there!
05Can we book in a pre-wedding shoot with you?
YES! We love getting to know you and a pre-wedding / engagement shoot is the perfect chance for us to meet up and have a good old chat.
If you’ve got somewhere special in mind for your shoot then we’ll join you there. If you’re open to ideas then we can take you on a tour of our favourite Jersey spots. Whether you’re looking for an urban shoot, or picture yourselves strolling down the beach or chilling out in the woods we’ll find the perfect location!
06Do we always get you both on our wedding day?
It all depends on what package you go for. If you’re planning a small wedding or elopement in which case I’ll leave Dean to fend for himself and I get to come and celebrate with you!
07Are you insured? What if your camera breaks?
We are fully insured and have plenty of backup equipment so you don’t need to worry about a thing.
